Diving is no longer a
sport just for the young, super-fit male. The
day's are long gone when the instructors were all ex-military macho
men trying to weed out weaklings who might have jeopardised a
mission.
Today the emphasis is on opening up the beautiful underwater world
to as many men and women as possible. Age is no barrier as scuba
equipment has improved in leaps and bounds and is really user
friendly.
With PADI, the training emphasis is on performance, not time.
Sometimes older people are a bit slower when it comes to learning to
dive. That's no big deal - all we do is take a bit longer. You might
be asked to pay a little more to cover the extra time if you are
really slow, but that's no problem - everyone knows that all baby
boomers are loaded, have no bills to pay and are always seeking new
challenges!
